Implant Retained Dentures (Removable)

When most or all teeth are lost, it is common to use partial or complete denture to replace all missing teeth. While traditional dentures do help to restore your appearance, there are some major drawbacks:

 

Dentures can be loose and inconvenient

           Due to bone loss and ridge resorption, dentures  progressively lose the stability. Although there are many denture adhesives and creams on the market today to help secure the dentures to your mouth, but many of these fall short in providing a confident grip that lasts throughout the day. Patients who wear dentures often worry about their teeth slipping, becoming loose, or falling out while talking and eating.

Dentures are uncomfortable 

           In order to gain more retention, dentures normally have extensive tissue coverage and can be quite bulky, making it difficult to taste and enjoy food.

Dentures cause more tissue problem and bone loss

           Due to lack of stability, tissue and bone underneath dentures are constantly under uneven pressure, which will cause more tissue inflammation and bone loss.

What are Implant Retained Dentures?

An Implant Retained Denture is constructed in a similar way to a traditional denture. Implant Retained Dentures have special attachments embedded into the denture base. The denture can then clip onto the other attachment parts of the dental implants in the jawbone.

Process of Implant Retained Denture

This is a multi-step treatment process:

• Implants will be placed into the jaw bone and left to fuse to the jaw bone for 3-6 months in order to provide secure anchors for the denture

• A customized set of dentures will be fabricated to replicate the shape and color of a natural set of teeth

• The denture will be attached to the implants though sets of attachment parts

• You can enjoy a secure, non-slip fit and worry-free teeth while able to remove the denture for everyday cleaning.
